Why make another 2.5% benzoyl peroxide?
For
The Regimen
to work well, you need to use a generous amount of 2.5%
benzoyl peroxide
. As it stood, out of all the products available over-the-counter in the U.S., Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment was the only widely available 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, and it comes in a .75 ounce tube which runs out quickly. For years I lobbied large brand names in the acne medication industry, asking them to make a generously sized 2.5% benzoyl peroxide gel. After writing and calling many times and receiving friendly responses but no action, I decided it was necessary for me to make a larger one for us myself.
How does benzoyl peroxide work?
First it is important to understand how skin blemishes occur. Whether we are talking about facial acne,
back acne
or other
body acne
, acne problems start the same way. For reasons no one understands, a pore collapses in on itself and the walls of the follicle stick together, preventing sebum (oil) from escaping.
Inside sebum lives acne bacteria ( P. Acnes ). Normally, the oil in the follicle drains to the surface, taking acne bacteria with it. However, when the pore is blocked, the bacteria begins to multiply. Inflammation ensues and a zit is born. If the pore is blocked completely a whitehead results. If the pore is partially blocked, a blackhead persists.
Acne medicine usually attacks one of the two phases of a blemish's life cycle, either preventing the initial collapse of the pore, or killing P. Acnes bacteria. Benzoyl peroxide treats the latter, and perhaps both phases. Out of any treatment on the market, prescription or over-the-counter, benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria the best. Studies show benzoyl peroxide kills over 99% of acne bacteria in quick fashion. Upon application of benzoyl peroxide to the skin, oxygen is created. P. Acnes can not live in the presence of oxygen. This is why benzoyl peroxide is so effective.
So the question remains, what about the pore plugging up in the first place? Benzoyl peroxide also has a mild drying and peeling effect which is thought to help prevent this occurence. In a nutshell, I have found that if you use enough 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and avoid irritating your skin, it works incredibly well.
Why 2.5% benzoyl peroxide?
Several studies show that 2.5% benzoyl peroxide helps get rid of blemishes and helps prevent pimples just as well as 10% solutions. Because of the lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide, 2.5% gets rid of acne with much less irritation.
Benzoyl peroxide is the best treatment to clear and prevent acne. 2.5% benzoyl peroxide in particular provides maximum bacteria killing ability with less irritation. Do not be fooled by "maximum strength" claims on 10% benzoyl peroxide medications. Companies know that people will always buy the "maximum strength" they can buy. But educated consumers know that 2.5% benzoyl peroxide is equally effective and much less irritating. This allows you to use as much as you need to combat pimples and adequately prevent future acne occurrence.
How to use 2.5% benzoyl peroxide?
I found that you must use generous amounts of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide to achieve clear skin. This is why Acne.org Treatment is made in large sizes. It is important to remember, as with any acne treatment, that you are gentle in application with Acne.org Treatment. We know that irritation can aggravate acne, so be gentle when you apply Acne.org Treatment.
Before you use Acne.org Benzoyl Peroxide, be sure to read through
The Regimen
carefully, print it out, and watch the

a few times. You should start clearing up quickly and reliably if you follow The Regimen closely.
What is pharmaceutical grade?
Acne.org Treatment is a pharmaceutical grade product. It is triple milled to ensure extra fine raw material. This is why you won't find grittiness in Acne.org Treatment like you often do in other benzoyl peroxide products. When applied to the skin, this produces smaller particles of benzoyl peroxide which penetrate more deeply into the skin.
I've witnessed that the vast majority of people clear up more quickly and completely with a pharmaceutical grade benzoyl peroxide, and you should be able to switch over from whichever benzoyl peroxide you're currently using to a pharmaceutical grade product with complete confidence. However, a few people have reported that they have broken out upon switching to Acne.org Treatment. Although this is uncommon, there is an explanation for those of you who may experience an initial breakout, and I'd like to allay your fears here. It could be the result of the smaller particles of benzoyl peroxide reaching deeper down into the skin and attacking the acne that is still well below the surface. This acne is destined to reach the surface at some point. However, a pharmaceutical grade benzoyl peroxide can act as a metabolic accelerator, bringing this acne to the surface. The good news is that after this initial breakout that some people may experience, you can expect your skin to stay clearer with a pharmaceutical grade benzoyl peroxide medication. With each application it will be penetrating more deeply and preventing acne from forming. I have personally never been clearer since switching and recommend that anyone switch without reservation. You'll be glad you did.
Why is it so inexpensive?
I am able to offer Acne.org Treatment at a low price and still make a profit due to my low overhead. Also, because you are ordering directly from me, there are no complex distribution channels or middlemen that inflate prices. Lastly, I do not advertise and have no marketing department.
What are the benefits?
- It is generously sized, so you can use as much as you need to get completely clear.
- It is a gel so it spreads more easily than a cream and goes on clear.
- It does not contain grittiness like many cream based benzoyl peroxide products can.
- Will not turn white when you exercise and perspire.
- It is easily applied to the back and chest.
- It works well with moisturizer, and does not "clump up."
- It is pharmaceutical grade and is triple milled so it penetrates more deeply into the skin than many over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide products.
What are the risks and warnings?
As with any benzoyl peroxide product, it is important that you start slowly with the amount that you use. Benzoyl peroxide comes with what dermatologists refer to as the well known "hardening effect." This means that benzoyl peroxide causes redness and dryness in some people for the first couple of weeks until the skin gets used to it. While this may be unavoidable to some extent, you can prevent some of the redness and dryness by being prudent and starting slowly. See
this link
on Acne.org for how much to use. Also, a very small percentage of the population is allergic to benzoyl peroxide, which is evidenced by swelling and/or severe crusting. If you suspect you may be allergic, test it on a small area (the meaty part of the inner forearm is a good spot) for a few days before diving in. Lastly, benzoyl peroxide can bleach dyed fabrics, so keep it away from clothing that you love. Benzoyl peroxide may also bleach hair and eyebrows in some people to some extent.
How many do I need per month?
For the face : about one 8 oz. benzoyl peroxide tube
For the body (face, neck, back, chest and/or shoulders) : about two 8 oz. benzoyl peroxide tubes (consider purchasing the
16 oz. benzoyl peroxide
)
You may want to consider buying a few months worth of supplies at a time to save on shipping costs. The more you order at one time, the more economical shipping becomes.
